1. NRA Files Amicus Brief in Challenge to NFA’s Registration Requirement for Suppressors

   Today, the National Rifle Association, American Suppressor Association, and Independence Institute filed an amicus brief urging the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to grant rehearing en banc in a challenge to the National Firearms Act’s registration requirement for suppressors.

2. U.S. Virgin Islands: Bill Proposing Firearm Confiscation, Firearm Bans, and Mandatory Training

   On September 4th, the Committee on Homeland Security, Justice and Public Safety held a hearing on Bill No. 36-0144 in an attempt to impose massive gun control across the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

3. Tennessee: Court Victory for Gun Owners

   On August 22nd, a three-judge panel in Tennessee issued a unanimous ruling declaring two Tennessee statutes unconstitutional. 

4. Florida: Miami Beach City Commission Considering Anti-Gun Resolution Tomorrow

   Tomorrow, September 17, at 8:30 a.m., the Miami Beach City Commission will hold a public meeting to consider an anti-gun resolution. The resolution, proposed by Commissioner Alex Fernandez, directs the Office of the City Attorney to prepare, and the City Administration to distribute, a letter encouraging private businesses within the City of Miami Beach to prohibit customers, employees, or invitees from bringing firearms or other weapons onto their private property.    

5. Wisconsin: Bill Introduced to Criminalize Firearm Possession on College Campuses

   On Monday, the Wisconsin State Assembly introduced legislation that would make it a Class A misdemeanor to possess a firearm in any building or on the grounds of a public or private university or college. The bill has been referred to the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety for consideration. Contact committee members today and urge them to oppose this legislation!
